Good Evening!
I have started a section on recommended reading regarding mostly dog training books. A few are books good for dog owners, most are books directed more at trainers or owners with a deep interest in learning more about their dog's behavior and methods of training.
If we were to rate books on a scale of 1-5, no book here would be rated less than 4.
There are many recent books that lots of people are recommending, personally I find most of them to be way too pc (politically correct) and present an unbalanced view. Others can recommend everything under the sun, I will only recommend those I truly feel are above average. (Dog training books are a dime a dozen.)
If all we read and study from, are things with which we already agree, there is not going to be a lot of mind expanding going on. Grow your brain, challenge your own beliefs! As I am often heard saying or seen writing...
"Think outside that damn box!"
You will also find that I recommend many of the 'classics', books that have stood the test of time. You will also see that many of the books I recommend are in depth studies on very specific topics/venues of dog training. For the professional trainer we can all learn a lot by studying areas of training we do not work in.
Hope you find this helpful. I will be placing a couple of books a week on the list and then once I have most of them up I will only put up a new one each month, (got to read them before I recommend them). I will also write up my own review of some of these books, maybe with a goal of one per month.
As always thanking you for your time,
Eric/DogStar
